The South River Music Program includes Chorus, Marching Band, Concert Band, Orchestra, Jazz Band, Piano, Music Theory, and Tri-M. All of these programs are supported by the Music Boosters. Hello South River Music Department Families!! It’s almost Marching Band Season!! Less than a month away! The Marching Band students will be working hard on their ROLLERCOASTER themed program at Band Camp this week from August 4-8 and 11-12, 2025 in the Band Room at South River High School! We are looking for parent volunteers to help set up the field and help move props, as well as Music Students to run the HAWKS flags with us, you don’t have to be in band to come support the program! Please find listed below the Home games for the 2025 Fall Football Season where we will be Marching and performing, as well as our Anne Arundel County Marching Band Exhibition which will be hosted by Severn Run High School this year. Friday, September 12 Saturday, September 13, 2025 (University of Maryland HS Band Day – see news page) Friday, September 19 (Star Spangled Choral Festival) Friday, October 3, Homecoming Wednesday, October 15, Anne Arundel County Marching Band Exhibition to be held at Severn Run High School, start time at 5:00 pm Friday, October 17, Senior Band Member recognition evening, families of Seniors arrive at approximately 5:00 pm for the walk over to the field for announcements and pictures Friday, October 31, Senior Football and Cheer recognition evening If you have any questions, or want to volunteer, please email us at [email protected]. For those parents new to the program, the students stay after school on these Fridays for practice, a pizza dinner (students bring $10 to cover their pizza, snack and drink), they change into their uniforms and march over to the field 15-20 minutes before the beginning of the game where they perform the National Anthem at 5-10 minutes before the game begins. Each week you will get an email from Mr. Cavanaugh and the Music Boosters with the schedule and the request for help. As always, please be aware that the County Athletics Department can change the beginning time of the game if there are problems that arise or conflicts.
